do more with google (definition)

How do you search for meaning of a word in web? Some people go to www.dictionary.com . That's one choice, some says wikipedia. I show you an alternative way using simple google search box.

Go to www.google.com, type define:Information Technology in the search box. What can you see? It provides a set of definition provided by different site. You can compare and understand it easier since different site provides similar but easier to understand meaning. Try define:孔子, define:malaysia and else.

I use this often to find some words or acronym that i don't understand such as define:RSVP, define:et. al. and else.

Happy exploring! All the best to all of you!

do more with google (conversion)

Do you know that you can do more with the google Search box?

I find that many people use google merely to search information. In fact, you can do more with google. I wish to share some google features with you all.

One method i find it nice is using calculator. You might say most computer is equpped with default calculator software. Then, how about conversion? How do you convert 100 pounds in kilogram? I find it quite nice to do conversion using google (rather than search some website to obtain the conversion rate between pound and kg). What you need to do in google is merely go to www.google.com, and type in 100 pound in kg . That's it!

Try it and you'll see the power! For your information, i use this sometiems to convert some food consumption rate from kiloJoules(kJ) in calories and miles to kilometers(km).

All the best to all of you!

A little knowledge can be dangerous

Let us examine the water in the tupperware.
If the tupperware is filled with water(full), try to shake it. Is there any sound? No, but it is heavy.

Let's fill the tupperware with water(50% full), try to shake it now. Do you hear the sound? Yes! Is it heavy? No if compare to the first filled tupperware.

What is the moral behind this? You're right! "A little knowledge can be dangerous".
Imagine what will happen when you start driving? Yes, you will be very careful, obey the traffic rules all the time. How about after 2-3 years? You slowly adapt to the driving environment and form your own habits, do you still be aware of the traffic condition? Well, your mind might slip at the moment. Any careless might lead to accident!

I wish to relate this to the computer knowledge (especialy internet). You know how to start a computer, without relevant knowledge you might afraid of connecting to internet (You might be afraid of login to internet since it is uncontrollable). How about if you know how to update virus pattern, configure firewall? Online become an easy thing. When you working, do you try to access to your company's network from outside (via VPN, modem, remote desktop etc)? Some people know how to use this and this leads to some security issues if you do not manage it properly. A typical example will be connect to company's network and forgot to disconnect it.

In conclusion, if you don't know anything, you might be safe. The most dangerous situation comes when you PARTLY familiar with something.

This is just my opinions... share with all of you!
