I'm using firefox now for most of my internet surfing activities. However, i still maintain my IE browser for those pages which "has to be" opened by IE (those activeX things such as yahoo upload photo tools, yahoo mail[WYSIWYG compose environment] etc).
Generally, it is more secure (since it takes rather small percentage of overall internet users + open source + lots of attractive extensions etc). Some extensions i used can be noted as followed:-
- weather forecast
- the latest weather is updated on my browser and i don't need to go to specific website for the latest weather
- bookmark synchroniser
- Since i still use IE, i will need to synchronise firefox bookmark with IE favourite (firefox Bookmark = IE Favourite)so that i can use the same things when i browse using IE
- rss reader
- i can read some interesting news without browsing to specific website (as long as they provide rss features). e.g. new york times, search engine watch, BBC news, WHYP Info Station (my weblog)
- mouse gesture
- For those whom use mouse frequent (compare to keyboard), this is a nice choice, i enlarge the font size by click&hold the right mouse button and do a "\" action. Cool?
- google preview
- This is a nice features which enable you to view a thumbnail page of the site (if it's available when you return results after doing any search in google
- ad blocker
- A typical feature to help you in blocking those advertisement you don't want.
There are more extensions and i just mentioned some, maybe you can have a look of it and try it when you free?
